Tale of two cities
I finished tale of two cities about a week ago after putting it down for a month. To my surprise the thing that prompted me to pick it up again was being stuck on holiday without a book. What did have was my iPhone, a slow connection and a copy of Stanza. Despite the slow connection I managed to download the book in a couple of seconds and start reading. To my surprise I found it pretty easy to...

Tale of two cities
Struggling my way through Dickens’ tale if two cities. I have to admit that I’m finding it quite a difficult read; full of flowery prose and some very unfamiliar turns if phrase. I wonder whether they actually spoke like that in those days? I suppose they must have, I can’t imagine that Dickens would make it up. Only another 100 pages to go.

Man & Wife
I have to admit that I found ‘Man & Wife’ by Tony Parsons, stuck to the front cover of a girly magazine my wife had discarded. I would usually run a mile when faced with any kind of pulp chick-lit bundled with a zine but I had read Tony Parsons before so am giving it a go. Any man who has a child, especially a son will recognise the emotions poured out in this book. the way he...

Boogie Nights
One last late night Reading session was enough to get me to the end of boogie nights by Paul Thomas Anderson and a very enjoyable read it was too. It took a little getting used to the style, this was the first time I’d ever read a script, but after a while it does kind of flow. The directors notes are really interesting and give enough to imagine the scene but not too much as to wipe out...

Cradle to Cradle
I have just finished reading ‘Cradle to Cradle’ by William McDonough & Michael Braungart and found it to be a most interesting book (if a little difficult to read sometimes) Like any book that introduces a difficult, new concept, there are a few buzz words to get to grips with. Normally this doesn’t bother me but with this book, for some reason I found myself having to...

If you've got work to do - best avoid this link →
As the government here in the UK announce that we are officially crawling out of recession (okay it is only %0.01 increase but I like to keep positive) I feel that it is time to start thinking again about property porn: I have to admit that I spent the best part of two hours plugging various addresses into Zoopla (my own, friends, family etc) I have no idea how precise the information is but...

Whats in a name?: iPAD  →
I have often wondered what protection there is for product names? I bet the owners of this concept are asking themselves the exact same question.

iPad, iPhone, iCandy? →
I am just not too sure about the new iPad thingy from apple, I own an iPhone and it is great (so I’m not an anti apple type). But the things that drive me mad about the phone (multitasking) will be carried over into this device and that may be it’s downfall. I think that apple haven’t been far sighted enough, they (IMHO) should have looked beyond the ‘big browser’...

Tax return
I really hate having to complete a tax return every year. It seems that no matter how hard I try, I always end up owing the government money. I don’t mind paying the tax, it’s the mad hunt through the house for bank statements and p60’s that I hate. Without giving it much thought, would it not be easier just to tax payments recieved into bank accounts? Surely that would catch...

Having a moan
I’m sitting here listening to my mother in law whinge about the state of the NHS. Now I recognise that our hospital system has it’s failings but I find it difficult to listen to people who would balk at paying extra tax, moaning about the care they see. Tory voting, daily mail readers always want more for less.

The project showing the insertion of a prefabricated unit into a disused shell is such an elegant solution. I would imagine that you would need quite a forward thinking Client to even consider such a thing
